  I would like to say I am so disappointed in the way the practice handled my issue today. When we moved here with my 2 week old and I was searching for a pediatrician, I made the decision for Blackmon pediatrics as soon as I saw Brennan Manning was an author they recommend. I thought for sure I had found the right practice. For the good points: •We have been seeing the NP Kelly and we really like her. •they are open on Saturday mornings and eased a new moms mind when my son got a cold. •his first set of vaccinations went perfectly. Now-my problem with Blackmon pediatrics that happened Monday 3/20/17. The nurse came in to give my son his 4 month shots. I had planned to do it exactly like his 2 month shots-hold him and feed him as he got them. So when the nurse told me to put him on the table I told her I am going to hold and feed him. She was visibly annoyed by this. She was blocking the chair where I sat the last time So I wondered if she wanted me to sit on the table with him. Before I could think another thought, she was giving him the oral vaccine. And then she said she needed his other leg, so while standing, I started to move him so his other thigh was available when she turned, grabbed his leg, and jammed the needle in. No warning at all. I was still in the process of moving him and only had one arm around him. Before I knew it all 3 shots were done and she was out of the room. I should have spoken up and said I'm not comfortable with this. But to be honest, it happened to fast and I'm not the kind of person who normally questions professionals doing their job. I spoke with the office manager-who was kind as I was very upset. I also told Kelly as I was waiting for the office manager to get the Nurse Manager. Kelly was also kind. But both Kelly and the Office manager passed the buck to the nurse manager. The nurse manager's first response to my story was that she would tell the nurse to explain what she's doing in the future when she comes into a room. I told her she missed the point, her nurse took her frustrations with me, or her job or whatever had her in a foul mood today, out on a FOUR month old. The nurse manager then changed her tune and said for my sons safety, it is better for him to be on the table, she said the needle could break off in his leg. So let me get this straight-your nurse was so concerned about the needle breaking off in my sons leg that she jammed said needle into his leg while I was actively moving him? While I had him unsecured and was unprepared for him to have a shot? And secondly-if she wanted him on the table for safety reasons, she could have told me. She never said he needed to be on the table. She barely said another word to me after I said I wanted to hold and feed him. I left the office after the nurse manager said I can just request another nurse in the future. There was no resolution, and I don't believe there was even an apology, but to be honest I was so upset there may have been a small apology I missed.
